Upgrade your 10/22® bolt hold open (B-41) to an auto bolt release
Rack the bolt with a simple pull
No gunsmith required for installation
Manufactured from laser cut stainless steel laser
The KIDD Auto Bolt Release will replace your factory bolt hold open (part #B-41) in the 10/22
®
trigger. This upgrade will allow the shooter to simply pull back on the bolt handle when the bolt is locked back to allow the bolt to go forward. No more fiddling with the factory bolt hold open to allow the bolt to go forward.
-All KIDD complete trigger units come with the auto bolt release as standard, but this product can be used to upgrade your current factory trigger.
Replacement instructions:
With the trigger unit removed from the receiver push the (B-35) ejector pin and (B-35) magazine release latch pin 1/3 of the way out starting from the bolt hold open (B-41) side of the trigger. Pull out the current bolt hold open then slide in the KIDD Auto Bolt Release. Fully install the magazine release latch pin back in. Locate the bent arm of the spring in the ABR notch, fully install the top ejector pin. Check if the ABR functions properly by actuating the ABR and making sure that it springs back into place.

Auto bolt release
I love the ability to just pull the charging handle and the bolt release now. This is a great part that I totally recommend. I wish it extended down just a bit farther than it does so that it’s easier to set. Still a great part. Kidd, if you make an extended one I’d buy it too!

Great Fix and Easy Install
Most folks online recommended the Kidd release so I went that route. It arrived quickly and installed very easily (there are a ton of videos out there showing you how to do it). Once installed? It's a no-brainer and I can't understand why Ruger doesn't use these right out of the box. Even my $125 Rossi RS22 has an auto bolt release. If you're thinking about it? Just buy it!!!

Must-have Upgrade
This bolt release makes my 10/22 so much more pleasant to shoot. The stock release was so annoying I didn’t shoot my gun often. But now that it operates the way it should - much more logically - I’ll be toting it to the range regularly. Installation was simple after watching a couple YouTube videos, even though this was my first time ever modifying a firearm. My only caution is that it will release the bolt with a firm bump on the stock, so something to be aware of. It would be nice to have it hold the bolt open a little more solidly. Nonetheless, I am very pleased with the way this makes my 10/22 so much better to shoot.

Happy Customer
Works like a charm and looks good too. I have no idea why the gun doesn’t come with one of these from the factory.

Running a TacSol receiver. Normal auto bolt release's don't function correctly. This works flawless! Extremely happy and highly recommend.

Auto bolt release
Buy this auto bolt release. I bought a different company’s release and it didn’t work and this one worked right from the start no grinding or anything!

Smart Choicw
Messing with the bolt mechanism on the Ruger 10/22 is a huge hassle and as far as I’m concerned a safety issue. My 14 year old who shoots junior rifle and has his own CZ 457 bolt action hates how it works which led me to research, albeit late to the party, to get a remedy. I chose to try KIDD and it was a very smart decision. After purchasing a new BX trigger I ordered an 1) auto bolt release, 2) bolt buffer, 3) extended mag release and 4) receiver pins. I installed all these items on the BX trigger and had it installed back on the stock in about 45 minutes taking my time. I am by no means a gunsmith. After everything was put back together we tested and my son and I cannot believe how much these items make a difference. Simple release of the bolt, quieter operation with the viton bolt buffer, very smooth operation of the extended mag release and the receiver pins don’t fall out with the KIDD ones. Now I’m thinking of getting the “KIDD Trigger Kit” and rehabbing the original trigger setup. Out of control the wife says.

Installed this in my factory trigger assy while making upgrades to my 50yo rifle almost solely due to the review comments at this site. I changed out the mag drop lever at the same time. Only recommendation I have is to not fumble the installation by losing control of the process and have almost all of the trigger mechanism parts fall out on the bench.
