Aftermarket fluted lightweight pistol barrel for the Ruger® 10/22®
Charger™ — a 1-lb silver-sleeved upgrade that blends stepped bull styling with
stainless-core strength.
What makes it special
- Stepped bull profile: Starts .920" for the
first 2" then steps to .870" — bull-barrel rigidity
where it counts with reduced mass toward the muzzle for quicker handling.
- Featherweight, rigid
construction: At 1.0 lb (10") this fluted pistol barrel delivers low
carried weight without sacrificing torsional stiffness.
- Stainless-steel core: Durable stainless core provides
repeatable alignment and long service life beneath a fluted silver
sleeve for classic bull looks.
- Match-grade origins: Bored & rifled by Lothar
Walther (Germany), finished and hand-worked by Tony Kidd, and
chambered with a proprietary reamer for smooth feeding.
- Extractor & crown: Precision convex extractor
slot for reliable extraction and an 11° crown + double ring at
the muzzle — KIDD marked.

Avoiding barrel droop — our
engineering
Barrel droop is prevented by precise geometry and a resistance-fit
mortise-and-tenon. The tenon is held uniform in diameter and
slightly oversized so the barrel seats tightly and repeatably. The shoulder
between the stepped .920" ? .870" profile and the tenon is
machined as a clean step (not a ramp), so the barrel sits flush
against the receiver and resists the teeter-totter effect. When correctly
seated, v-block screws only need to be snug (~10 in-lb) — enough
to prevent forward movement without distorting alignment.
Installation & break-in tips
• Prep: Scrape paint/debris from the receiver mortise before
install.
• Lubricate: Apply a light anti-seize to the tenon to ease
installation.
• Seat: Start the tenon into the mortise, align the extractor slot,
then turn the pistol over and gently tap the rear of the receiver with a
rubber mallet until seated.
• Torque: Tighten v-block screws snug (~10 in-lb) — firm, not
crushing.
• Break-in: Run two magazines through the barrel before
evaluating groups; repeat after switching ammo brands.
• Cleaning: Keep the chamber clean; avoid excessive bore scrubbing —
typical bore-clean interval ~500 rounds (varies by ammo).
